Mosaic Taster Day

On this taster session students will design a mosaic using materials provided. You are welcome to bring along personal materials you have collected to include in your mosaic as well. Please give your design some thought before you arrive and our tutor will advise you on what will be achievable in the session.

You will be taught how to lay out your design for on your selected base board. Which adhesives to use for purpose and various, application methods. You will be given demonstrations of how to cut tessare using various tools and fully inducted with the health and safety aspects of using the tools and materials. Once your mosaic has been cut and attached to the base board there will be some drying time.You will learn about the history of mosaics and shown the numerous possibilities that this art form has to offer. We will then proceed to the grouting stage. The tutor will give you clear instructions on how to achieve the best results. Depending on how you have progressed with your pieces of work you will either grout in class or be given materials to complete this stage at home.

Coffee tea biscuits are provided. Please bring a packed lunch/sandwiches for the short lunch break. There is on site parking, local train stations are either Meopham or Borough Green & Wrotham there is a limited bus service but we are happy to arrange a driver to collect you from the local stations by prior arrangement.
